Beirut Government Hospital

Rafik Hariri University Hospital, formerly known as the Beirut University Governmental Hospital, is the largest hospital ever constructed in Lebanon. With 430 beds, 14 operating rooms and 50 hotel suites the hospital delivers a full range of primary and highly specialised care. In addition, the hospital contains laboratory facilities and offers academic training to young doctors, nurses, pharmacists and dieticians through affiliations with several universities.

Rafik Hariri University Hospital is a non-profit independent establishment offering medical services at affordable prices to Lebanese citizens and expatriates living in Beirut. The hospital works directly with The Ministry of Public Health, the Social Security National Fund and private medical insurance companies to offer excellent medical care in accordance with international standards.

The Lebanese Government decided to build the 500 bed capacity hospital back in 1979 based on studies carried out by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Public Works & Transportation. However, due to the advent of the Lebanese civil war construction on the project was postponed until 1995. The 517,000 square foot hospital is a relatively low rise building consisting of five floors above ground level with an additional mechanical floor on the top level. Construction was completed in 2001 at a cost of US$ 121 million.

Our role was to supply a full suite of heavy-duty hospital specification hardware to stand up to the level of usage and cleaning standards in the high-volume patient facility.
