The Nottingham Academy opened its doors in September 2009 on the three sites of its predecessor schools; Elliot Durham School, Greenwood Dale School and Jesse Boot Primary School. The new academy is one of only a handful of all-through schools in the UK with a capacity for 3,600 pupils aged between 3 and 19. The newly formed Nottingham Academy is the largest school in the UK and the largest academy in Europe.
On previous education projects Carillion had suffered from a number of issues relating to the robustness and design of the products as well as repeated deliveries behind schedule. Elite came into the project to address and eliminate all inherent problems for the Nottingham BSF scheme.
The construction of Nottingham Academy was completed in three phases for the three different sites; Greenwood Road, Ransom Road and Sneinton Boulevard. The largest part was the new build at Greenwood Road which was built to accommodate pupils all the way through from nursery to year 11 serving as the main campus for the school. Construction was completed within budget at a cost of £32 million and delivered nine weeks ahead of schedule; this is a perfect example of Elite’s expertise for such high profile fast-track projects along with our ability to be flexible to our customer’s needs.
