Sea Containers House

London’s ever-growing arsenal of hotels highlights is the opening of the first Mondrian hotel in the UK. The Tom Dixon-designed hotel will ‘bring the sexy Sunset Strip vibe of the original’ – but to London’s grittier South Bank. It also means that the ever-popular Morgans Hotel Group now has a portfolio of three properties in the capital (Sanderson and St Martins Lane being the others).

The cavernous building, known as Sea Containers House, will have 359 rooms (many with outdoor spaces), a rooftop lounge, spa, brasserie and screening room. The lobby will be at the heart of the building, a place for hanging out and people-watching, coffee or cocktail in hand. The property can count the OXO Tower, Tate Modern and London Eye as neighbours, not to mention its picture-perfect views of the river Thames.

In this Cat A fit-out our brief was to install washroom modules, incorporating, male, female and disabled toilets over 10 floors. Using the principles of “rox in a box”, all the benefits of a pod but with on-site installation. A detailed survey was undertaken, a standard module size was agreed and detailed drawings produced.
